CHANGES FROM EFS 2.10: o Support for the NetFlex-L ENET has been integrated into SCO's Advanced Hardware Supplement and is no longer included in the Compaq EFS. o This release of the Compaq EFS is required by Compaq Insight Management Agents version 3.1 for SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0. Earlier versions of the Compaq Insight Management Agents should be replaced with version 3.1. o Link status check added to cet driver for better error detection in full-duplex. o The ida driver has been enhanced to include support for SMART-2/P disk array controllers. KNOWN LIMITATIONS: o The Disaster Recovery utility will not backup drives over 2GB in size and will not work with SMART-2 controllers. DEVICE DRIVERS IN EFS 3.10 EFS 3.10 provides support for the following Compaq specific hardware not supported in the base operating system: o Compaq Network Adapter Driver and Configuration Utility. The Compaq NetFlex Controller (cet) driver supports the family of Compaq NetFlex controllers under SCO UNIX 3.2v4, Open Desktop, or Open Server operating systems. o Compaq Netelligent Controller Support. The Compaq Netelligent Controller (cet) driver supports the family of Compaq Netelligent controllers under SCO OpenServer Release 5. o Compaq SCSI-2 Support. Compaq SCSI-2 support includes drivers for the Integrated 32-Bit Fast-SCSI-2 Controllers in the Compaq ProSignia and Compaq ProLiant Family of Servers. Support is also provided for the following options cards: Compaq 32-Bit Fast-SCSI-2 Controller Compaq 32-Bit Fast-Wide SCSI-2/E Controller Compaq 32-Bit Fast-Wide SCSI-2/P Controller SCSI-2 support also includes driver support for the Integrated SCSI-2 options port on the Compaq SystemPro/XL Server. o ProLiant Storage System Support. The Compaq EFS 3.10 includes a driver to support the features of the ProLiant Storage System when connected to the Compaq 32-Bit Fast-SCSI-2 Controller or the Compaq 32-Bit Fast-Wide SCSI-2 Controller. o Compaq System Wellness Driver. System Wellness features include hardware components that monitor system activity, temperature conditions, fan operation, EISA bus utilization, and operation system up time. It also provides Automatic Server Recovery and Health Log Support for the Compaq SystemPro/XL, Compaq ProLiant, and Compaq ProSignia Servers. o Compaq Intelligent Drive Array support. Support is included for the Compaq Intelligent Drive Array, Compaq IDA-Expansion, Compaq IDA-2, Compaq SMART, and Compaq SMART-2 controllers. o ProLiant Multiprocessing (MP) Support. This software allows the use of more than two CPUs in a ProLiant Server System. NOTE: A copy of SCO MPX 3.0 must be installed for each additional CPU. ALSO NOTE: For Proliant 1500 and 5000, SCO Advanced Hardware Supplement 3.4 must be installed, followed by SCO Support Level Supplement (SLS) UOD421A. o Boot-Time Loadable Driver (BTLD). The Boot-Time Loadable Driver diskette is used when installing SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0 on Compaq systems. UTILITIES INCLUDED IN EFS 3.10 o SCSI-2 Management Utility. The SCSI-2 Management Utility provides support for the Compaq 32-Bit Fast-SCSI-2 Controller, the Compaq Integrated SCSI-2 Options Port, the Compaq 6260 SCSI- 2 Controller, and the Compaq TurboDAT Autoloader. o Intelligent Drive Array (IDA) Diagnostic Utility. The IDA Diagnostic Utility allows the administrator to view Compaq Drive Array controller status. o Disaster Recovery Utility. The Disaster Recovery Utility creates a bootable Disaster Recovery diskette and a Disaster Recovery tape. The diskette and tape are used to restore the primary hard disk in the event of a failure. o System Monitor Utility. The System Monitor (cpqmon) utility displays system activity and performance information. o Inspect Utility. The Inspect Utility includes a driver and utility for providing information about Compaq system hardware configurations. o Intelligent Drive Array (IDA) Diagnostic Utility. The Intelligent Drive Array (IDA) Diagnostic Utility monitors IDA status. o Compaq UPS Support. The Uninterruptible Power Supply Utility (UPS) will gracefully shutdown a server if the AC power fails. o Compaq Single Launch Point Utility. The Single Launch Point Utility allows execution of EFS 3.10 utilities by selecting them from a menu. o Compaq PageMarq Support. The PageMarq support includes the lp model CPQPagemarq printer interface script which provides support for the Compaq PageMarq printer. The cpqfax program provides support for sending faxes through the Compaq PageMarq printer. INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS o Disk Storage Requirements: If you have an Extended Industry Standard Architecture (EISA) hardware configuration, 8 megabytes of disk storage is required for all of the device drivers and utilities of EFS 3.10. EISA Options are not installed on Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) systems, therefore only 2 megabytes of disk storage are required to install EFS 3.10 on ISA hardware configurations. o Operating System Requirements: The following operating system releases are supported by EFS 3.10: SCO UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 Version 4.0 with Maintenance Supplement 4.2 SCO Open Desktop or SCO Open Desktop Lite, Release 3.0 SCO Open Server Enterprise 3.0 SCO Open Server Network 3.0 SCO MPX Release 3.0 o Other considerations: To run TCP/IP over the networking package of the Compaq EFS for SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0, TCP/IP should be installed on your system prior to installing the supplement. If a version of TCP/IP is installed after installing this supplement, netconfig or mkdev cet must be run to configure TCP/IP. SCO TCP/IP (for SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0 System V) Version 1.2 for 3.2v4 based systems must be used. TCP/IP is included in SCO Open Desktop. To access certain SCSI devices during installation of SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0, the Boot-Time Loadable Driver (BTLD) diskette, available on the Compaq Support Software CD, may be needed. Refer to section 8, "Installing SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0 using the BTLD diskette." To install the disks connected to a Compaq SMART-2 controller as the primary boot device, an N1 Boot diskette containing the new IDA driver must be used. In addition, the BTLD diskette must be used to include this driver in the link kit on the root file system. The N1 and BTLD diskettes can be found as part of the EFS package. HOW TO USE: IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE! Follow these steps to create the six (6) EFS 3.10 diskettes: 1. Download the SoftPaq to an empty directory and change to that directory. 2. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP2360 [ENTER] The following files should be created: EFS310._01 EFS310._02 EFS310._03 EFS310._04 EFS310._05 EFS310._06 QRST.EXE README.DOC 3. Obtain 6 DOS formatted 1.44 MB diskettes IMPORTANT: Only 1.44 MB, DOS formatted diskettes can be used, other types of media cannot be substituted. 4. Follow the further instructions in README.DOC to create the diskettes by executing the QRST.EXE program and then read all information in the README.EFS file on the documentation diskette before installing the EFS. 5. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP2360.EXE and the other files created on the hard drive if you wish. Copyright 1996, Compaq Computer Corporation.
