DESCRIPTION:  The Options ROMPaq diskette allows a user to
              upgrade the ROM Firmware images for Compaq System 
              product Options.  The Options ROMPaq consists of one 
              (1) diskette:
Disk 1 - Options ROMpaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for the Compaq SMART,
         SMART-2 SCSI Array Controllers, SMART Array 3xxx Controllers,
         and Fibre Array Controller.

Enhancements/Fixes:

  Upgraded SMART-2 Controller firmware from Version 2.14 to 3.08 to 
  correct the following potential issues:
        Fixes/Enhancements from 2.14 to 3.04
	- False degraded status of ProLiant Storage System, Model F1, 
          F2, U1, U2, or UE shown in Compaq Insight Manager when power 
          is returned to a previously unplugged or failed redundant power 
          supply in the storage system.	
        - Support for ProLiant Storage System UE including:
          Preliminary support for more than 7 drives per bus
          Support for ultra speed operation
        Fixes from 3.04 to 3.08
        - Corrects a potential 1783 POST error on SMART-2DH Array Controllers 
          utilizing a Compaq WCXC ASIC p/n 297048-001 at location U2
        - Added the following POST message to flag certain drives which have known
          critical firmware problems:
          "1770-Slot x Drive Array - Critical Drive Firmware Problem Detected -
           Please upgrade firmware on the following drive(s) using Options ROMPaq
           (available from www.compaq.com):
          SCSI Port y:  SCSI ID z
          (RESUME = "F1" KEY)

  
  Upgraded SMART Array 3100ES and 3200 Controller firmware from Version 
  2.72 to 3.08 to correct the following potential issues:
        Fixes/Enhancements from 2.72 to 3.06 
	- Version 2.72 is the original shipping version
	- Fixed an issue with some PCI boards, such as Olicom Token Ring, 
          locking the system up at POST when installed in a system containing 
          a Smart-2 Controller.
	- Added 1723 POST message for SMART Array 3200  Controller.:
          "Slot x Drive Array - To improve signal integrity, internal SCSI 
          connector should be removed if external drives are attached to the 
          same SCSI port"  
        Fixes/Enhancements from 3.06 to 3.08
	- Version 3.08 is common to SMART-2 and SMART Array 3xxx Controllers
        - Added the following POST message to flag certain drives which have known
          critical firmware problems:

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain one (1) formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with 
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
insert a formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the  
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. The Options ROMPaq diskette is a self-booting diskette.  Place the
ROMPaq diskette into your drive A: diskette drive and power cycle your
system to begin updating the appropriate components.
