This information is updated regularly on Guillemot's World Wide Web site (http://www.guillemot.com). Release Notes: ============== List of Maxi Sound Card supported ================================= - Maxi Sound 64 Pnp - Maxi Sound 64 Home Studio 3.0 Release Notes ======================= (1) Resolves wave playback problems when playing multi-wave channels and MIDI together. (2) Resolves system crashes with SMP machines when playing wave files. (3) "WaveOutGetPosition" and "WaveInGetPosition" more accurate. (4) Reduces number of wave Playbacks to 4 "Maxi Sound 64, Wave nb 0...3", in order to improve efficiency, reliabily and synchronization in music softwares (Cakewalk pro audio,...) Beta 2.01 Release Notes ======================= (1) Resolves IRQ configuration conflicts. (2) Setup.exe Optimized to take less memory place (easier to dowload). Beta 2.00 Release Notes ======================= (1) Supports 4 more Wave playback channels -Select "Maxi Sound 64, Wave nb 0...3" in "Audio" tab of Multimedia control panel. For Maxi Sound 64 Pnp and Maxi Sound 64 Home Studio cards, 8 extra playback channels are available if you add SIM memory. (2) Supports 1 more Wave record channel for Maxi Sound 64 Home Studio cards. -Select "Maxi Sound 64, Wave Record" in "Audio" tab of Multimedia control panel. No extra record channel available for Maxi Sound 64 Pnp cards. (3) Applies Real Time effects (Chrorus, Reverb) and Post effects (Equalization, Surround) on all sounds thanks to Digital Signal Processor. To take full advantage of thoses effects, use the "Maxi Sound 64 Utilities", available on our Web site. Beta 1.0 Release Notes ====================== (1) Supports GM/GS standards -Select "Maxi Sound 64 MIDI Out" in "MIDI" tab of Multimedia control panel. (2) Supports IN/OUT MPU401 UART mode -Select "Maxi Sound 64 MIDI In" and "Maxi Sound 64 MIDI Out" in a sequenceur. Then you can plug a synthesizer in the joystick port/MIDI interface. (3) Supports Daughter Board for Wave Table Synthesis -Select "Generic MPU401". (4) Supports joysticks -You just have to install your Windows standard joystick drivers. (5) Supports one Wave playback channel and one Wave record channel -Select "Crystal Audio System Playback" and "Crystal Audio System Record" in "Audio" tab of Multimedia control panel. Then, you can record CD Audio, Line In and Microphone sounds. Configuration instructions: =========================== NOTE: The drivers you are about to install will not work if you have another Maxi Sound card installed. If you have already installed previous Maxi Sound Beta drivers on your system, uninstall them and reboot before responding to new configuration dialogs. (Use Uninstall shortcut in your Maxi Sound menu) The following steps describe how to install your Maxi Sound drivers on your Windows NT4.0 system. 1. Log onto your computer with Administrator privileges. 2. After downloaded and uncompressed zip file in a temporary folder, launch Setup.exe application and follow the instructions supplied. 3. At the end of the installation the Multimedia Control Panel applet appears. You will need to install the drivers listed below depending on your card. 1) Maxi Sound 64...Audio Codec 2) Maxi Sound 64...Dream Support 3) Maxi Sound 64...Midi Support 4) Maxi Sound 64 MPU401 for Daughter Board (only if you have a MIDI Daughter Board) a) In the "Devices" tab of Multimedia control panel, click on "Add" button b) Choose "Unlisted or Updated Driver" in the List of Drivers c) Enter the path name where setup has copied files (e.g. c:\Maxi64) d) Choose the Driver you want to install and clik on OK *************************************************************************************** *** BE CAREFUL TO INSTALL ALL THE DRIVERS IN THE ORDER THEY APPEAR IN THE LIST BOX *** *************************************************************************************** e) Go on step a) without restarting your system until all the drivers are installed. f) When you have installed all the drivers, Restart your system. 6. Your Maxi Sound card should be working properly at this point. If you need to change the resources that your card is using, then open the Multimedia Control Panel applet and select the "Devices" tab. Select the device for which you need to change the resources and click on "Settings" button. This will bring up the same resource picking dialog that was invoked when installing the device. You can change them and restart your system. Important instructions: ======================= - When installing "Maxi Sound 64...Dream Support" device, choose "I/O Address" and "Interrupt" same as specified in the "Dream 9407" tab when installing "Maxi Sound 64...Audio Codec" device. => If no parameters are supplied, choose free onces. - When installing "Maxi Sound 64 MPU401 for Daughter Board" device, choose parameters same as specified in "MPU-401" tab when installing "Maxi Sound 64...Audio Codec" device. => If no IRQ is supplied in "MPU-401" device, install your Daughter board device on a free IRQ (in any case different to Dream 9407 IRQ). NOTE: Do not install the "MPU401 for Daughter Board Support" if you haven't got a Midi Daughter Board plugged onto your Maxi Sound card. Otherwise, it will reserve an unused IRQ on your system. - If you are having problems settings up your Maxi Sound card and you have a PnP BIOS on your machine, you may have to disable it in the CMOS settings. Consult your machine's manual or the manufacturer to get information on disabling your PnP BIOS. (In many BIOS, you have to set "PnP OS installed" to Yes)
