This CD-ROM contains many known fixes to EduQuest
products. The CD-ROM has been designed to install only the
fixes which apply directly to the server which it is running
from (i.e. if the server is running ICLAS 1.3, the ICLAS 1.41
         fix will not be applied).

You will be given the option to install all fixes or
selectively install individual fixes. If you choose to install
all fixes, the CD-ROM will determine the system configuration
and then apply the fixes which are applicable to your server.
Please note that the process of determining the server
configuration (what level NetWare, ICLAS, Courseware, etc) can
be a very time consuming task. This process should be performed
when there are no user on the system, and at non peak use times.
When choosing to install all fixes, ample time should be
allocated where no system access is required. Also note that
although we've tried to limit the amount of inputs required,
there still are points throughout the installation process that
         require some operator intervention.

Choosing to selectively install fixes will allow you to
apply each fix on an individual basis. This process will also
determine if a fix is applicable before attempting to install.
This process is faster, but please note that only the fixes
that you select will be applied.

Following are the README files for each individual patch
contained on the CD-ROM. Note that all fixes may not apply to
your system (i.e. If you don't have ICLAS 1.41, it is not
necessary to know what is in the CLASP14 patch).

You may view or print the README for each individual fix by
switching to the directory on the CDROM for the fix and
viewing/printing the README.TXT file in that directory.

         Administration System Version 1.4X

NOTE: To install any new versions of DOS to your network you
must run INST_DOS from the CD-ROM. Do this after the update has
completed and you are returned to the System Maintenance menu.
To run INST_DOS use the menu escape code to exit to DOS and
type drv:\CLASP14\INST_DOS then press Enter (note: replace drv
with the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive). Follow the
instructions on the screen until all desired versions of DOS
have been installed to your network.

LANSpool V3.50C Package Documentation

          INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPLACING/INSTALLING LANSpool

This package replaces LANSpool on ICLAS version 1.41
with ship level LANSpool version 3.50c.

Use the following steps to upgrade and replace LANSpool
         on your ICLAS network:

         *******************************************************************

         B. Performing the upgrade to the latest LANSpool.

         1) If desired, run the LANSpool removal utility (LSREMOVE) at
this time. Use the utility according to LSREMOVE instructions
that come with the package. The LSREMOVE program will
completely remove all of the current LANSpool version without
destroying any ICLAS files. After the program has downed the
server and completed use steps 2 thru 5 to install LANSpool
            and CLSPRTST.

         2) Boot a workstation using ICLAS. Login to that workstation
            as ADMIN or SYSOP.

         3) After logging in use one of the following procedures:

Escape to DOS from ICLAS using the escape sequence.
Change the current drive to the CD-ROM drive. Run Install.
When the Patch Update Main Menu appears, select option 3 -
Selectively Install Updates. A menu of all patches will
appear, select Install LANSpool 3.50C Updates and press
Enter. When the installation has started you will see a
menu with three items, select option 1 - Install LANSpool
by typing 1 and pressing enter. Read the messages and
respond to any instructions during installation screen. In
order to activate the new LANSpool the server must brought
down AFTER the installation has completed. Installation
will be complete when you are returned to the Selectively
            Install Updates Menu.

        NOTE***NOTE***NOTE***NOTE***NOTE***NOTE***NOTE***NOTE***NOTE

After installation you must change the NODE command in the
AUTOEXEC.BAT for the workstation from "NODE /A" to plain
         "NODE".

   *********************************************************************

After completion, down the server if it is a 286 server to
restart the LANSPOOL.VAP or unload and reload the LANSPOOL.NLM
         on a 386 server.

Replacement of LANSpool is now complete. If you have used
the LSREMOVE package you will have to remake all of the
         previous PrintStation assignments.

     LANSpool Notes from Intel:

This is the latest LANSpool Printer Drivers. They have support
for Windows 3.0 and 3.1 functionality.

    *****************************************************************

     Windows 3.0 and Windows 3.1

To run Windows 3.0 with Netware, get the latest WINUP?.ZIP file
from NetWire and install all of the fixes in that package.
WINUP?.ZIP has Novell's latest code with needed bug fixes for
NetWare/Windows functionality. LANSpool need a special device
driver to function properly with windows when in Enhanced 386
mode. The following line must be added to the SYSTEM.INI file:

         DEVICE=VSPLD.386

This line should go right after the line:

            DEVICE=*VPICD for windows 3.1

         and right after the line:

            DEVICE=VPICDA.386 for windows 3.0

         Examples for each are below.

         Windows 3.0:

            DEVICE=VPICDA.386
            DEVICE=VSPLD.386

         Windows 3.1:

            DEVICE=*VPICD
            DEVICE=VSPLD.386

The version of the VSPLD is v3.53 To check your version, from a
DOS Box in windows, run VXD_CHK This will show what version of
VSPLD is loaded on the machine. If this causes a PageFault
error, VSPLD v3.0 is loaded. Copy VSPLD.386 from this release
         to the window's system directory.

         Example: COPY VSPLD.386 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

    **********************************************************************

         Note:
DO NOT USE THE "loadhigh" option of NODE when using windows.

This current release does NOT allow the drivers to be loaded
into HighDOS memory when running with windows.

LANSpool has been slowed-down while in Windows. The LANSpool
print speed has been capped to 4.5 KBytes per second while in
windows. In DOS, no such cap exists and LANSpool can print
over 20 KBytes per second. The windows cap was placed to keep
the forground windows response crisp and active.

Novell has had troubles with their IPXODI.COM files and SPX
communications. Since LANSpool uses SPX, ODI drivers still do
         not work reliably with LANSpool.

         LANSpool v3.X Printer Intervention Notification

LANSpool is designed to alert certain people when a parallel
printer goes OFF-LINE, OUT-OF-PAPER, or PAPER-JAM. When any of
these conditions exists, a 25th line message is sent to all
QUEUE_OPERATORs for every queue which the printer services.
Notification will only be sent to USERS in the QUEUE_OPERATOR
list. USER_GROUP members of the QUEUE_OPERATOR list will not
receive notification. If you wish to have lot's of people in
the QUEUE_OPERATOR list, but do not want them to receive this
notification, create a USER_GROUP, assign the users to this
group and then assign this group to the QUEUE_OPERATOR list.
(NOTE:Some printers momentarily signal OUT_OF_PAPER when the
         printer really does have paper.)

It is also possible to totally eliminate these notification
messages on a per-printer basis. If the DOS environment
variable LS_NO_NOTIFY=YES exists before running the NODE
program, notifications from this printer will be disabled.

To set this variable, add this line to your print station's
         autoexec file:

                SET LS_NO_NOTIFY=ON

         The NODE VERBOSE Option:

The NODE now comes with a /verbose option that details the
actions of the NODE while it is trying to load. This is
helpful when problems are encountered while NODE is loading and
it is necessary to locate the cause and correct the problem.
         The syntax is:

             NODE ps=printserver /verbose

         Known problems:

         1. When a COM2 printer is re-attaching, it seems to "freeze"
the work-station for about 10 seconds.

         2. Novell has stopped fixing SPX bugs in their IPX.COM program.
Novell is currently only fixing things in the ODI drivers.
Use only the latest ODI drivers for your workstations.
Beware that the ODI drivers which shipped with Novell 3.11
are not the latest drivers and have known bugs in them.
Always get the latest drivers from the ESMS tools disk or
            NetWire.

Primary Editor Plus Printer Package

PEPPRINT PACKAGE is a cumulative collection of PEP print
         programs available to date.

         The following programs are included:

PEPEDITH.EXE PEP High printing (previously available as PEPHI
PACKAGE on ESMS Tools). NOTE that PEPEDITH does not
contain all the files previously provided in PEPHI.
This is an executable file and is no longer a self-
extracting packed file. PEPHI, in it's original
form, has been removed from ESMS TOOLS.
    PEPEDITC.EXE PEP Creeping Print Patch.
PEPEDITD.EXE PEP DOUBLE High/DOUBLE Wide Print.
    README.DOC This documentation file.

**** ALL PEP print program documents are included in this file. ****

The following guidelines should be noted when installing PEP
         print programs:

         1) The 'creeping print' fix provided in the PEPEDITC.EXE program
is also an included in the PEPEDITD and the PEPEDITH programs.

         2) IF your objective is simply to fix the 'creeping print' problem
without changing to HIGH or DOUBLE HIGH/DOUBLE WIDE print then
you need only use the PEPEDITC.EXE program. Normal print mode
            will be preserved.

         3) IF your objective is to fix the 'creeping print' problem AND
change to HIGH print mode, then you should use the PEPEDITH.EXE
program (formerly part of the PEPHI package).
If you use this on a printer that does not support Double High
mode, it will print in the standard size.

         4) IF your objective is to fix the 'creeping print' problem AND
change to DOUBLE HIGH/DOUBLE WIDE print mode, then you should use
            the PEPEDITD.EXE program.

         5) The user should be cautioned to stay in 40 column mode while
printing DOUBLE WIDE or word wrapping will result.

         6) None of these PEP fixes will correct the 'creeping print'
            problems on the laser printers.

LANSchool V3.2

This file contains instructions for installing LANSchool V3.2.
There is some user intervention required during the
installation. Therefore, please read and follow the directions
         carefully.

During the installation of LANSchool V3.2, you will be prompted
to answer a few questions. These questions will check to see
where your previous version (3.0 or 3.01) of LANSchool is
installed and therefore, where you would like to have V3.2
         loaded.

NOTE: After the system has installed the LANSchool software,
you must perform the following steps to complete
               installation:

         1) Once the installation is complete, you will be returned to
            the SYSOP's main menu.

         2) Select Modify Program Options.

         3) Select Courseware.

         4) You will see a list of courseware that is currently on your
server. The previous version of LANSchool will appear in
that list. Tab down to that version (3.0 or 3.01) and
            select it.

         5) The .ITM file for the LANSchool program will appear. Tab
down to the Program Description field and change the version
to V3.2. Press F10 twice to save and confirm your changes.

         6) All appearances of LANSchool will now show as V3.2. All
users who had LANSchool loaded will now have the 3.2 version
            available to them.

NOTE: The following is a detailed description of changes in
                LANSchool V3.2

Bug Fixes: The Teacher's mouse pointer will be properly
restored after the removal of the Teacher's pointer
arrow. (This was especially a problem with
                     Microsoft Works)

Color Information is correctly updated in all video modes. EGA
equipment still has trouble if the EGA registers are not
readable. If you wish to disable the updating of color data,
the NOCOLOR switch is available on TEACHER.COM, STUDENT.COM,
         and PEEK.COM.

Certain older PC-Type student machines would not properly
receive keystrokes from a teacher while being Peeked. There
is a new switch for STUDENT.COM, "KEY_STUFF", which will use a
different method of keystroke stuffing for older IBM-PC Clones.

Enhancements: In the default mode, the teacher will send
graphics screens about 30% faster than older version. However,
it is possible to boost this speed even more. The BURST option
for TEACHER.COM allows the user to specify how many screen
packets to send during every Clock Tick. The default is one
packet per tick, but this can be increased to 2 or 3. i.e.
TEACHER BURST=3 will specify 3 screen packets to be sent in
every clock tick. This will effectively triple the student
screen update rate. However, the larger the BURST number, the
greater the network traffic. It is recommended the users who
wish to operate at a higher BURST rate, experiment with both
BURST=2 and BURST=3 to see if the network performance remains
         acceptable.

The memory overhead for LANSchool decreased for both the
teacher and student modules. Although this memory decrease is
not significant, it's always nice to get new features and
require less memory at the same time!

===============================================================================
Math Fix Documentation

The Math Exploration Toolkit and Algebra programs will cause a
blank page to be ejected on the network printer each time a
student loads one of the programs. This package contains a
procedure which will patch the programs on the network server
         to fix this problem.

===============================================================================
PS2TAPE

This is a list of the problems fixed in the PS2TAPE maintenance
         release, PS2TAPE version 2.01:

This package can be installed over top of PS2TAPE version 2.01
to install the following fixes, or can be installed over
top of PS2TAPE version 2.00 to upgrade that version to 2.01
         with fixes.

         1. DEVICE=PS2TAPE.SYS statement added to CONFIG.SYS if
installing under DOS 5.0 and task switching active. This
results in PS2TAPE full support of DOS 5.0.

         2. Problem restoring bindery files on Novell networks when the
restore is started from a parameter file.

         3. On a Novell system, user backed up files. Then took tape
and tried to restore on another system. Tape rewound and
gave drive not ready error. If tapeinfo had been run
against tape before it was moved to second system, then
             restore worked.

         4. Problem running DOS 5.0, PS2TAPE, DOS LAN requester, and
             external 5.25 diskette drive.

         5. Includes additional fix to not alter the SRW and SRO flags
on 0 byte files on the backed up server. (Novell NetWare)

         6. When empty directories are backed up and restored the
trustee rights are not restored to the target server
correctly. This module fixes this problem. (Novell
             NetWare)

         7. Re-run current backup.

Novell NetWare servers with ICLAS installed:

In conjunction with this fix the CLSTPBCK.BAT file can be
modified to remove the CLSFILL statements. PS/2 Tape will now
backup empty directories and restore them correctly. Removing
the CLSFILL will somewhat increase the speed at which the
backups and restores are done, plus not cause a problem with
         directories on 2.2 servers.

On 3.11 servers the CLSFILL statement may have been removed
already as it does not work correctly. If it has not it should
         be removed.

Stories And More

SAM101P is a patch for Stories and More 1.01. All errors
reported in 1.00 have been corrected in this patch.

The associated package is NOT a complete product. It consists
ONLY of the patches and therefore must be applied to an
existing product in order to be used correctly.

         Update information:

Product Name: Stories and More Fix Version: 1.01

Bug Fixes in Version 1.01: ==========================
Creation of package. All errors reported from users have
         been corrected.

         1. Print Screen problems have been fixed.

         2. A 14208 error that occurred when a user exited the
product from Going Beyond in sequential mode, then went
back in to the product, clicked on "OK", then pressed F4 or
             ESC during the speech.

         3. The last student entry in the 'View User List Report'
panel of Teacher Options is now visible.

         4. Due to the improved program features listed below, it is
now impossible to get a 14200 or 60000 error caused by
updating and deleting students from both the ICLAS and
             Stories and More student lists.

         5. If users pressed any keys (especially ESC) many times
rapidly when exiting Stories and More, the system would
             hang. This has been fixed.

         6. The bookmark setting for the last student with an ID less
than five characters in length has been fixed.

         7. Missing dragables in Morris the Moose have been fixed.

         8. When users clicked on MENU from the Library Exit Menu, it
took them to some strange place in the product. The patch
             fixes this problem.

         9. If a user pressed F4 (Menu) during speech in Going
Beyond, the Menu banner would overlay the text window but
the user was still able to type into the text box through
             the Menu banner.

        10. If a user exited out of a Starting Off or Thinking About
activity which included a text entry field and then
reentered the product, a message says "Click on OK to
continue where you left off or press F4 to go to the menu".
If the user pressed F4 a graphics driver error occurred.
This has been fixed. 11. Reporting of partner scoring
information to ICLAS from Stories and More was not working
is the student had a partner. This has been corrected.

        11. An error occurred with the text cursor when users went
into the Mouse Tutorial and ran the activity at least to
the point where they enter their name. If the student
then presses F4 and goes to either Going Beyond or to one
of the "typing" subactivities, the cursor is messed up.
             This has been fixed.

        12. In Going Beyond, a user could press and hold keys down
and fill the entire buffer with no spaces. This long
string was to long for Smooth Talker (44 characters) to
speak. If the user clicked on read the program would
crash. The user can still type in text with no spaces.
The program checks if there are no spaces and adds a break
when it reads and there are no spaces for 44 characters.

        13. If a user repeated an activity multiple times using the
selection at the end of activity screen and then pressed
F4 to go to the menu they would be taken to the beginning
of the activity instead of the menus. This has been
             fixed.

        14. Additional errors that have not been reported by
customers have been found and corrected by the development
team during work on Stories and More Version 1.01.

         Improved Program Features:  ==========================

         1. The time required to process student records when running
as a teacher has been decreased to 1/3 of the former
             processing time.

         2. The student list is automatically coordinated with the
ICLAS student list when running on a network under ICLAS.
Also, the 'Edit User List' menu selection is now disabled
when running Teacher Options on a network.

         3. Various DOS (operating system) and hardware resources are
checked at program start-up to verify that enough of the
particular resources are available. The following areas
             are checked:

Memory: A memory check verifies that there is enough free
memory for the largest activity in Touch Typing before the
program allows the user to access activities. If there is
not enough memory, the user is informed by a warning
             banner.

File Handles: The maximum number of file handles
simultaneously used by Touch Typing is verified at
start-up. If there are not enough file handles, an error
message is posted and the program is terminated.

Video Mode Capability: Video support is checked to insure
that the graphics mode required by Touch Typing is
available. If the video mode is not available, a suitable
error message is posted, and the program is terminated.

         4. Stories and More utilizes extended memory if it is
available to enhance performance by storing all overlayed
code in extended memory. When an overlay occurs the code
is accessed from memory instead of from disk or network.

         5. Option information modified by Teacher Options is written
             to disk only when necessary.

         6. Actions in Teacher Options that take a great deal of time
to complete (writing to disk, etc.) now prevent the user
from clicking the mouse until processing is complete.

         7. The ubiquitous 60000 error is now divided into a range of
errors from 13001-13090. You should note that the last
two digits correspond to the DOS extended error that can
be found in DOS reference manuals.

         8. A number of other commonly occurring errors (14200,
14256, etc.) now report a possible DOS error because many
of these errors are caused at the DOS level.

         9. Modifications have been made in the phrasing of error
messages presented to the user in the event of a program
error. The new wording directs the user to consult
Appendix A of the Stories and More Program's Guide. The
updated Appendix A gives users a series of steps to follow
to correct the problem on their own. The version 1.00
approach was to display a message to 'contact your IBM
representative.' Version 1.01 instructs the user to
contact their IBM representative after having tried the
             prescribed corrective actions.

Wave Interference

This update fixes a problem with this product on machines with
80386 and above processors. The manufactured version label
indicates that the Version is 1.01 when in fact it is still
Version 1.00. In the Version 1.00 code there is a piece of
code that "self modifies" itself and on 386 processors (and
above) with an instructional cache this is not allowed.

Writing to Write Form 1 Package - Version 2.0P

This package contains fixes to Writing To Write Form I and
should be applied to ALL Writing To Write Form I installations.

This package contains the following fixes for Writing To Write
         Form I:

         * Printer patches which prevent student work from
being truncated in Units 1-8 (previously available
            as the WTWPRT package);

         * A fix to eliminate the 6-character limitation for
teacher id's in ICLAS. The WTW Teacher Utility
will now accept teacher id's of up to 10 characters
            long;

         * The INT4DAPI.COM file is updated for improved
playback quality when using the M-Audio card

    ********************************************************************
          INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
    ********************************************************************

This package enables a new master file for WTW Form I
(WTWMAST2.BTR) which will be used in place of the previous WTW
master file. This will effectively eliminate all existing
student and class bookmarks. If the package is installed prior
to the beginning of the school term, this should present no
problem. You may simply apply the update, and ignore the BEFORE
         INSTALLATION and AFTER INSTALLATION instructions.

If this package is installed during the school year (while WTW
Form I is actively being used), the BEFORE INSTALLATION and
AFTER INSTALLATION steps outlined below MUST be performed to
         retain student bookmarks.

    ********************************************************************
         BEFORE INSTALLATION
    ********************************************************************

The following steps will print out the WTW School List using
the Writing To Write Teacher Utility:

         1. Logon at a workstation as any Writing To Write Form I
             Teacher;

         2.  Enter the Writing To Write Teacher Utility;

         3.  Select REPORTS.  Make sure the appropriate printer is on;

         4. Select SCHOOL LIST (Print List of All Students in the
             System);

         5. Exit the Writing To Write Teacher Utility and Log off

    ********************************************************************
        AFTER INSTALLATION
    ********************************************************************

The following steps will update existing school and class
bookmarks in the new Writing To Write master file. They must
be performed by EACH Writing To Write Form I teacher:

         1.  Make sure you have a copy of the WTW School List;

         2. Logon at a workstation as a Writing To Write Form I
             teacher;

         3. Enter the Writing To Write Teacher Utility (the first
teacher to perform this step will be required to create the
             master file by answering Y to the prompt to do so);

         4. A red box will appear which indicates, "Classroom not
found. Create?". Press Y to create the classroom.

         5. You will now see the initial Classroom Defaults screen.

         6. Use the TAP key to tab over to the Next Unit at Logon
field; Use the School List to determine on which Unit your
class was working before the patch was applied. Change
this entry to reflect the appropriate Unit.

         7.  Press the TAP key to tab to the Components Completed field;
             A box will open up on the screen;

         8. Review your class on the School List; Determine the last
Component the majority of your students completed. Using
             the TAB key, enter a Y for those Components completed;

         9. Press ENTER. Press ENTER again; Press any key when the red
             box appears;

        10. Select AUTOREGISTER and proceed to re-register your
             students;

        11. If you need to adjust individual student records, select
PEOPLE, then select STUDENT. Select the appropriate
student and edit the record. Do this for all student
records which need to be adjusted individually.

Measurement, Time and Money Level I

This update fixes: An APAR written where the machine freezes up
if the student repeatedly pounds on the mouse buttons while
diskette access is going on, like during a Save or a Get
operation. An APAR in Measure It, Graph Maker Activity where
if a graph was saved after being sorted and then loaded again
the graph bar labels and colors were wrong.

NOTE: ALL 4 PROGRAMS (Measure It, Money Board, Sticker Store
and Talking Clock) MUST BE INSTALLED ON THE NETWORK IN
ORDER FOR THIS FIX TO WORK!!

Touch Typing for Beginners, Version 2.01

When operating Touch Typing for Beginners, Version 2.01, please
         note the following conditions.

         CONFIG.SYS file --

When setting up your CONFIG.SYS file, make sure the
number of files is set to at least 20 files. Refer to
             your DOS manual for assistance.

                   Example: FILES=20

Running as Teacher on a Network --

When running a network version of Touch Typing as a
teacher, the following sequence of events occurs. After
the title screen, the program's user list is synchronized
with the ICLAS user list. Then, if new student records
are available, they will be collected into a common file.
These records are generated as students complete
activities, or teachers make changes from Teacher Options
Menu. They are collected into a common file so the
teacher can review student progress. The message on the
screen displays a running total of the number of student
             records processed.

If students are working in a class that the teacher wants
to access, the students' work will be interrupted while
the files are being processed. During the interruption,
files containing data generated by the students are
collected into a common file. Therefore, a teacher
should avoid running the program, as a teacher, in any
class where students are currently working. (The same is
true when setting bookmarks from ICLAS) However, any
inactive class can be accessed with no interruption to
             any operating classes.

Note: It is recommended that the teacher runs the
product often (at least weekly). By doing so, the
processing time is reduced considerably, and
consequently the interrupts will be shorter.

Teachers and students must both exit Touch Typing before
any new information is processed. Doing this will cause
any options changes or assignments made by the teacher to
become effective during the next student session.

Running as Teacher on a Standalone Machine --

A teacher password is required by Touch Typing. It is
possible to delete the teacher password. If you delete
the password, the next time you try to enter Touch Typing
as a teacher the program will require you to enter the
documented back-door password. See the Touch Typing
             Teacher's Guide for information.

         Content Editor --

When editing text in "Words Per Minute Drill", the
Content Editor will automatically move text to the next
line when the current line is full. Additionally, at the
end of the final sentence on a page, the Content Editor
will add two spaces after the final period.

         Hardware Information --

When operating Touch Typing for Beginners, Version 2.01
on a PS/2 Model 25, some of the games will not allow the
user to achieve more than 60 WPM due to the performance
             of the computer.

         CHANGES AND MODIFICATION

            processing time.

2 The student list is automatically coordinated with the
ICLAS student list when running on a network under ICLAS.
Also, the 'Edit User List' menu selection is now disabled
when running Teacher Options on a network.

         3. Various DOS (operating system) and hardware resources are
checked at program start-up to verify that enough of the
particular resources are available. The following areas are
            checked:

         Memory:
A memory check verifies that there is enough free memory
for the largest activity in Touch Typing before the
program allows the user to access activities. If there
is not enough memory, the user is informed by a warning
             banner.

         File Handles:
The maximum number of file handles simultaneously used by
Touch Typing is verified at start-up. If there are not
enough file handles, an error message is posted and the
             program is terminated.

         Video Mode Capability:
Video support is checked to insure that the graphics mode
required by Touch Typing is available. If the video mode
is not available, a suitable error message is posted, and
             the program is terminated.

         4. Panels with scrolling lists keep the currently selected
entry highlighted even after you enter a sub-panel. This
eliminates the highlight bar from going to the top of the
            list each time.

         5. Option information modified by Teacher Options is written
            to disk only when necessary.

         6. Actions in Teacher Options that take a great deal of time
to complete (writing to disk, etc.) now prevent the user
from clicking the mouse until processing is complete.

         7. Teacher Options user progress reports now have a header
printed on each page of the report.

         8. The ubiquitous 60000 error is now divided into a range of
errors from 13001-13090. You should note that the last two
digits correspond to the DOS extended error that can be
            found in DOS reference manuals.

         9. A number of other commonly occurring errors (14200, 14256,
etc) now report a possible DOS error because many of these
errors are caused at the DOS level.

        10. Modifications have been made in the phrasing of error
messages presented to the user in the event of a program
error. The new wording directs the user to consult
Appendix A of the Touch Typing Teacher's Guide. The
updated Appendix A gives users a series of steps to follow
to correct the problem on their own. The version 2.00
approach was to display a message to 'contact your IBM
representative.' Version 2.01 instructs the user to contact
their IBM representative after having tried the prescribed
            corrective actions.

         1. Replace the GRAPHICS.COM file on the remote boot image disk

         CHANGES AND MODIFICATIONS

This file contains notices concerning changes or updates made
to the Primary Editor Plus, version 1.03 package (PEP103).

Any changes made to PEP103 after the initial release (10/20/92)
         are documented in this file.

         10/20/92 - Change List:
         -----------------------

         1. Print creeping patch was added.

         2. 386 voice patch was added to both the program and tutorial
diskettes. Previous to this version voice would not be
             available on 386 processor machines.

         3. The PEP item file was modified to include a call to the UP
utility necessary for ICLAS 1.4 so that the ICLAS CLS?.USE
file was converted to the format that PEP recognizes.

         4. A start-up speech device recognition program detects which
of the following speech devices is attached to the work
station and accordingly load the speech driver. -
             Digispeech - M-ACPA - IBM Speech Adapter

         5. Regular DOS v3.30 system programming instead of booter
             loader.

         6. Hardfile install\uninstall utility which is found on the
Tutorial diskette. The Install Utility asks the user
whether to install the program or tutorial and makes the
necessary prompts for the program diskette if chosen.

Note: Use of the PEPPRINT PACKAGE on ESMS Tools may still be
necessary as it contains optional double\high\wide\modes
for printing that could not be included with the new
release since it is user preference.
