Summary of Changes ------------------ Where: Diskette version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function (Restriction) Remaining restriction <2.25> - (New) 33.6K bps Modem speed (V.34) support. - (Restriction) All sound functions(including MIDI, WAV and CD play) are not supported when modem is working at 33.6Kbps. There may be performance degradation at the case of Internet communication with background sound pushing from Web site, even if the sound is actually not coming from speaker. - (Restriction) Modem works slower speed when modem started by such as incoming call while sound functions(MIDI, WAV and CD play) are working. - (Restriction) The modem name in Windows 95 has changed to "ThinkPad 33.6 Data Fax VOD Modem." Use the new name if the Windows 95 dialer program or other Windows 95 applications cannot recognize the current modem name. Also when we change the modem name, Win95 forgets all of your Dial up Networking phone numbers/TCPIP/DNS addresses that are attached to the DUN icons. These numbers should be recorded before you upgrade the code, and must be reentered after the upgrade has taken place. Otherwise all the dial up networking icons will malfunction until the missing numbers are reentered. <2.24> - (Fix) Faxworks sometimes fails to receive a first fax memo in suspend mode when wakeup on ring is used. <2.22> - (Fix) Modems that do not conform to the V.34 specifications have poor connectivity. - (Fix) If you use a 28800bps modem, some wave files do not make sound in Windows 95. - (New) An uninstall function is added. - (New) The new "Mwave Quick Tests" application helps isolate Mwave problems quickly. - (Fix) A general protection fault (GPF) problem during suspend mode. - (Fix) Some wave files of a particular frequency do not run. - (Fix) Some class-1 fax-related problems. - (Restriction) If Mwave Release 2.22 is installed on the previous Mwave file, the shutdown and "Exit to DOS" option from the Start button in Windows 95 might cause an error. To recover, put the "Exit to DOS" pif file in the Windows directory, edit the file to change references to the MWD directory to MWW, and change the Mwave board driver to MWD50430.EXE. - (Restriction) To obtain sound, some games may require the SET BLASTER statement, which include a T3 parameter, in the CONFIG.SYS file. - (Restriction) If you used the "Exit to DOS Mode" in the preloaded Windows 95, some DOS modem application may not work because the COM port is not in the BIOS data area. Installation Guide ------------------ Refer to the "INSTALLATION NOTES" in the README.TXT file in the number-1 diskette. Note: If you are installing the Mwave feature in your ThinkPad computer for the first time, you also need to install the Mwave DSP Features Diskette for MIDI for Windows. There are six MIDI diskettes. Mwave 33.6 Upgrade ------------------ Mwave 33.6 Modem Upgrade for IBM ThinkPad 755/760 with integrated modem˙133.6 Modem Upgrade for the integrated modem on IBM ThinkPad 755/760 (US/Canada/Japan only) The IBM ThinkPad team delivers on its promise of providing investment protection and upgradability for the ThinkPad 755/760 series notebook computers by offering a modem upgrade without additional charge. Over one year ago, IBM provided such an upgrade for ThinkPads with integrated modems to increase transmission speed from 14.4kbps to 28.8Kbps. Continuing in that promise, an upgrade from 28.8Kbps to 33.6Kbps1 is now available -- without additional charge -- for ThinkPad 755/760s with integrated modems on the IBM ThinkPad Service and Support Web page. The following instructions have been created to provide you with tools to easily upgrade the 28.8 integrated modem for your IBM ThinkPad 755/760. Support will be initially for Windows 95 and shortly thereafter (August 1997) for Windows NT. This upgrade is designed to provide up to 33.6Kbps send & receive capabilities, which can enable you to transmit information up to 20% faster than 28.8 modems. Notice: Setting the modem speed to 33.6 may cause certain audio functions, including the ability to play .WAV files, to be temporarily disabled while the modem is online.
