Drivers Auto-Installer Installation information-- This document contains information pertaining to how to invoke "Driver Auto-Installation" programs. "Driver Auto-Installer" work for Windows/PC only, it covers Windows95, 95B, 98, 98SE, ME, NT and Windows 2000 releases. Do not try to run it for Apple's computers. Type "G:\Shining\Setup.exe" (G:\ is the letter of your CD-ROM driver) in MS-DOS prompt or Double-Click the file to execute. Three selections are available to choose: "Install/Uninstall Drivers" -- start "Driver Auto-Installation" program. "View Readme" -- view this file "Exit" -- exit this program. 1. PCMCIA/CardBus ********************************************************************** * DO NOT plug PCMCIA/CardBus Hard Drive into PCMCIA/CardBus socket * * before running installation program. * ********************************************************************** DOS/Windows 3.1 --------------- There is a directory labeled G:\SHINING\DRIVERS\CITIROM\PCMIDE, which contains the README.TXT file that details how the device drivers are to be installed under DOS. Windows 9x/Me/NT/2000 --------------------- Choose "Install/Uninstall Drivers" to start installing driver, click on "CitiROM/CitiDISK PCMCIA/Cardbus - IDE Adapter", click on "Next", "Install", "Next", "Begin" and "OK" to complete the installation. Once the driver installation is completed, the AutoInstaller may ask you to reboot the computer, or authorize it to perform a necessary operating system upgrade. Simply select "Reboot Now" or "Yes" to continue the process. Once the AutoInstaller finishes, your system is ready to use your new device. Windows XP ---------- Using Windows default driver when the system is running WinXP. Mac OS 8.5, 8.6, 8.7, 9.0 ------------------------- 1) Place the CD-ROM you received with the PCMCIA/CardBus Storage System in your CD-ROM drive. There are few drivers in the CD, G:\SHINING\DRIVERS\CITIROM\MACOS.(G:\ is the letter of your CD-ROM driver) 2) Drag and drop following files into "SystemFolder:Extensions". 3) Files required for Mac OS 8.5 to 8.7 are "ATAManager", "PCCard AIM" (if PCMCIA mode is Selected) and "Shining CardBus Driver"(if CardBus mode is selected). File required for Mac OS 9.0 is "Shining CardBus Driver"(if Cardbus mode selected). "ATAManager" And "PCCard AIM" are already included in Mac OS 9.0. 4) Reboot the computer. Mac OS 9.1 above ---------------- Using Mac OS default driver when the system is running Mac OS 9.1 above. 2. USB&1394 --- USB Please refer to G:\OnSpec\USB\Readme.txt for drivers' installation. 3. USB 2.0&1394 --- USB 2.0 Please refer to G:\ISD\USB\Readme_2.txt for drivers' installation. 4. IEEE-1394/USB&1394/USB 2.0&1394 --- 1394 *************************************************************************** * 1. Make sure that the IDE/ATAPI device is setting in the Master mode. * * 2. External power supply is required if bus power is not enough to * * support the device. * * 3. DO NOT plug FireWire/1394 Hard Drive into FireWire/1394 port * * before running installation program. * *************************************************************************** Windows 98SE ------------ Choose "Install/Uninstall Drivers" to start installing driver, click on "IEEE1394(Firewire) - IDE Adapter", click on "Next", "Install", "Next", "Begin" and "OK" to complete the installation. Once the driver installation is completed, the AutoInstaller may ask you to reboot the computer, or authorize it to perform a necessary operating system upgrade. Simply select "Reboot Now" or "Yes" to continue the process. Once the AutoInstaller finishes, your system is ready to use your new device. Windows Me/2000/XP ------------------ Using Windows default driver when the system is running WinMe/2000/XP. Mac OS 8.5, 8.6, 8.7, 9.0 ------------------------- 1) Place the CD-ROM you received with the FireWire/1394 Storage System in your CD-ROM drive. There are few drivers in the CD, G:\SHINING\DRIVERS\FWIDE\MACOS.(G:\ is the letter of your CD-ROM driver) 2) Drag and drop following files into "SystemFolder:Extensions". 3) Files required for Mac OS 8.5 to 9.0 are "ATAManager", "Shining Firewire Storage Driver" drivers. "FireWire Enabler" and "FireWire Support" are also included. If both files are not pre-installed by Mac OS, simply drag both files into "SystemFolder:Extensions" as well. If both files are already installed, do not install them. 4) Reboot the computer. Mac OS 9.1 above ---------------- Using Mac OS default driver when the system is running Mac OS 9.1 above.
